For a 15-year-old firm operating without customers or outside capital, Merus came to us with one clear mission: redesign their website to attract the world’s best traders. In New York City, competition for elite talent is intense, and what resonates most with traders are compelling reasons to join—communicated succinctly, matter-of-factly, and without any fluff. Traders don’t have time to wade through noise, so we focused on a streamlined, goal-oriented narrative and a set of page flows that delivered a refined story with maximum clarity and impact.
Choosing a darker theme was a bold decision. Paired with accents of blue and sand, it creates an environment that keeps the focus firmly on the content. The design guides the eye to clear, easy-to-grasp points about the firm’s capabilities, resources, technology, the culture and benefits that any new hire can expect to experience.
Using authentic, unstaged imagery to reveal the warm and bright environment at the Merus office helped highlight the firm’s true character—a vibrant, diverse and professional place to work, where teamwork is real and productive work gets done. Short videos of the space, interviews with team members, and a “Life at Merus” photo section featuring moments outside the office further reinforced the strength and cohesion of the team. The design brings all these visuals together in a sophisticated, confident way—never overwhelming, and always aligned with the brand’s language.
To bridge the gap between where the brand was and what Merus needed it to achieve, thoughtful evolution of the brand language was essential. We refined the logo, updated the color palette, and curated the content to strengthen the storytelling. This carried through to every detail—from calls to action featuring a rising investment graph, to a tabbing system that makes scanning pages effortless, to finance-inspired diagrams that clarify complex ideas. All of it came together to create a design that feels intuitive for traders—speaking their language, delivering the message quickly without distractions, as they prefer it.
