Boat’s fast-growing hardware lineup needed an app experience that could keep pace with its scale and ambition. The previous hearables app, while functional, struggled with fragmentation—behaviours varied across devices, key features were buried, and the experience didn’t fully reflect the sophistication of Boat’s products. As the ecosystem expanded, these gaps became more pronounced, impacting both usability and perception.
Boat partnered with Lucid to reimagine the experience end-to-end. We rebuilt the interface around clarity, control, and coherence—creating a unified system that adapts seamlessly across earbuds, headphones, neckbands, and speakers. The new design brings structure to complexity, showcases advanced features with greater intuitiveness, and creates a consistent rhythm of interaction across the entire product range.
Since launch, the redesigned app has delivered measurable impact, including a significant improvement in its Play Store rating (from 2.5 to 4.6 ☆), stronger engagement, and more confident user adoption across devices.
Boat’s catalogue spans dozens of hearables, each with its own behaviours and feature sets. We created a cohesive interaction model and visual system that scales across product lines—ensuring that pairing, controls, modes, and settings feel predictable and intuitive no matter the device. Clear hierarchy, consistent patterns, and adaptable layouts allow the app to support existing products while remaining future-ready.
Every key function—ANC, EQ, gestures, diagnostics, battery insights—was rethought to reduce friction. A polished dark interface, refined structure, and subtle motion cues bring focus and precision to the experience, making complex features easy to understand. Interactive feedback and streamlined flows turn advanced capabilities like 3D audio and smart gestures into simple, guided interactions that feel accessible to all users.
Since launch, the redesigned app has seen a strong positive response. The improved organisation, visual refinement, and unified design system have contributed to a significantly higher Play Store rating (from 2.5 to 4.6 ☆), increased engagement, and greater trust in the boAt ecosystem. The new app now serves as a scalable foundation for future devices and features across the brand.
